Hong Kong Hiatus
There are some mixed feelings amongst the group as we leave Hong Kong – it was a sad time as we said goodbye to some of our sectional riders Maureen, Prasit, Sharon and Ray – they will be missed. However, we also greeted some new faces – Robin and Rinda, Per, Jacqueline, Lynley, Nelson, Eva, Annegrete, Jurgen, Paul, Gloria and Nola.
The riders enjoyed a much needed 4 day break from their bikes as we entered and explored Hong Kong. It felt like a place of luxury, where English is widely understood and spoken and the streets are lined with Starbucks. It’s an interesting and easy place to explore – but you mustn’t forget the third dimension as much of Hong Kong is underground or above street level in the many high-rise buildings. The subway and the Star Ferry made access to Hong Kong Island easy and after 3 weeks of riding through China it was nice to enjoy the treat of a Western city again but also to have the opportunity to explore Asian market places.
We are now ready to tackle the next section of the ride – Mao and Tao – as we continue our journey south towards Hanoi.
Spaces are still available on the last 2 sections of the Bamboo Road – Thai One On (Bangkok – Penang) & Singapore Sling (Penang – Singapore)
