Hi Roo, Cycling may or may not be the cheapest way to explore the island but it certainly is the best method to explore a fascinating country. Quality bikes can be hard to find in Madagascar as well as parts so it might be an idea to bring your own. There are some rentals in the capital Tana but they are also quite expensive. Have a great trip.

Hi there,

I’m looking at maybe travelling to Madagascar and I’m not sure what way to do it. I’m trying to be as cost effective as possible. Is cycling around the island the cheapest way of going about it? I was wandering how much bikes cost to buy in Madagascar? And how much bike equipment is?

That part of the Island is beautiful but I would not suggest you to go that road because of the insecurity. Better changing itinerary somewhere in the south?
