While we were nervous about taking them, it turned out perfectly.

In 2018 my bike bag was damaged In Europe and I made a claim. Eventually, after I arrived home, my claim was paid and I was awarded 67 Euros. However the only way to receive the funds was for a direct transfer to my Australian bank account.
However a bank charged 50 Euros for the transfer. My local bank denied it was them and said it was the initiating bank.
My enquiries to the overseas insurers were ignored.

If travelling independently, my experience is that most cities will have a bicycle shop(s) that will give you a bike box that their new stock arrives in. That box ordinarily would have been thrown into the rubbish anyway.

If I will be travelling on both sides of a tour can it be arranged for my bike to be shipped out to a specific destination in country at the start of the ride and then shipped back to the UK at the end of the ride. Do you recommend any specific shipping company?

Thanks Stephen

Think about only having two hand holds, one either side. Less to rip open. Also worthwhile to add an extra layer of cardboard underneath the front fork area and make sure your fork axle spacer is taped tight or held in place with the skewer. A bent fork is not fun!

I live in the states and have checked with UPS which is quite expensive. I’m hoping that there will a shipping facility close to the hotel in Istanbul. At any rate if TDA has any knowledge from previous participants and how they shipping bikes home. Lars
