COVID-19: What You Need to Know
We want you to know that the safety of our cyclists, staff, and local populations that our tours pass through is our top priority.
Each day at our ‘virtual’ head office, we discuss the latest developments and reassess the situation. We have made many difficult decisions already, including postponing tours happening in the near future, as well as stopping the 2020 Tour d’Afrique as it travelled in Tanzania so that everyone could return safely to their home countries.
At the same time, like many people, we are looking forward to when we can once again be on our bicycles, travelling the world and experiencing all the joys that come from this.
The following Covid-19 related policies are in effect for all tours that start before April 30, 2021
Registration Fee is Now Fully Refundable
The US$150 registration fee is fully refundable if the tour is cancelled or if you decide not to participate.
Relaxed Payment Deadlines
The due date for full payment of the entry fee has been reduced from 90 days to 60 days prior to the start of your trip.
If a tour is postponed or cancelled by TDA before departure, you will be offered a full refund of any fees paid to TDA. If you choose to cancel after your full payment of the entry fee has been made, our standard cancelation/refund policy applies.
So if you want to start planning your post-COVID cycling plans, feel confident that you can register now without financial risk. Our customer service team is ready to answer any questions you have about your tour or upcoming travel planning with us.
Safety & Hygiene
As we make preparations for a return to running our bicycle tours, the health and safety of our participants, staff and the local communities passed through is at the forefront of our planning. The existence of Covid-19 adds a number of new safety protocols to our current practices, and though we cannot eliminate all risk, we can greatly reduce it through setting hygiene and physical distance protocols.
We are creating new safety protocols for our tours. While they are definitely part of a “new normal”, we believe that the joy of being out on the road, cycling each day and seeing new locales is well worth the necessary adaptations we will all be making.
These protocols will be reviewed and updated in the coming months and adjusted based on local health regulations and accepted best practices. Click here to read an overview of the new COVID-19 Safety Protocols. Further detailed information will be provided pre-tour to registered riders.
