By: kathy herson https://tdaglobalcycling.com/2020/11/how-to-thrive-on-group-cycling-adventures-developing-good-expedition-behaviour/#comment-230410 Thu, 05 Nov 2020 22:02:04 +0000 https://tdaglobalcycling.com/?p=43968#comment-230410 This is so well written and so true-I had many a strong rider tell me that anyone can ride hard and fast, cover long distances, etc. The stronger rider is the one who can do the above, but help with a flat, ride with a slower rider in tough weather conditions, lead into the wind for weaker riders, stop to visit the locals, etc. I am an average rider, but a very proud moment for me was on a week long ride in the states when my 14 year old nephew (after only 5 days of bike touring in his life), told me that we should slow up and help get an older rider into camp by riding with her. TDA has a great philosophy- If you want to enjoy their tours, embrace it!

Everyone joins a Tour like that for their own reasons. I would constantly say that everyone needs to ride their own Tour. In addition, if you have ridden in the dog box all day and you see the name of a rider who has struggled to the finish of that day and arrives at a late hour and their name is on the dish clean up, offer to take their place. If you know you are not riding that day help the crew break down camp.
