While people on a TDA tour naturally have some things in common—we all like to ride and explore—they also have different temperaments, social styles, interests and objectives. NASA crews, athletic teams and businesses can select people who complement/augment another but a tour operator has to go with whoever shows up. Which is why such friendly advice articles like this one are so helpful, especially coming from someone who’s been on more than a few expeditions.
