One Day to Go

Well we have just finished a good 2 hour briefing at the Cataract Pyramid Hotel where Shanny, Duncan, Jack, Dean and Elaine gave a wealth of information on riding routes and distances, police escorts, food, water, campsites, hygiene, bike repairs, chaffing, saddle sores, dehydration, rabid dogs, rock throwing Ethiopian children who like your gear, malaria tablets, bike locks, more food, big trucks, crazy traffic, more water info and finally our very early start time tomorrow. The riders have all met each other and admist their excitement at being in the crazy city of Cairo and about to start an amzing adventure there was the chaos of last minute bike adjustmets, dealing with that jet lagged feeling we all love, shopping for toilet paper, phone calls, giving rider interviews, money, sending those emails and packing gear for tomorrow. The hotel is now awash with an array of bikes and riders from all parts of the world. The Tour DAfrique 2007 is about to begin and by 8am tomorrow morning 32 riders plus staff, trucks, bikes and gear will head away from the mighty pyramids towards an adventure fun filled and crazy 4 months in Africa. Wish us good luck and look forward to sending more photos, updates and results soon.
