I am a retired lecturer in Food Science living in Melbourne and have been cycling as an adult for 40+years. I completed Cairo to Cape Town with TdA in 2019 albeit in stages having started back in 2013. I have previously cycled across Canada with Tour du Canada. some years back I rode with two friends from the north to the south of the UK (John O'Groats to Lands End) taking a wandering route and enjoying English and Scottish B&Bs and the odd pub.

Just retired, I have been looking for a cycling adventure and this trip fits the bill. I have lived in Abu Dhabi for the last 22 years and I am now back in the cold of the UK. Hoping for some good weather, great cycling and looking forward to meeting everyone and starting.

I also re trained as a professional cycle mechanic and have worked across Europe on event support for large group events. I have toured on a bike in Asia - particularly Sri Lanka, Cambodia and Thailand and ridden a lot in the UK, France and a bit in Germany. Now a budding photographer, for landscapes and travel, this trip with help me do both. Looking forward to meeting the group, the staff and people of 10 African countries.

Transecting Africa remains an unfinished project; the memories and experiences of 2020 are in daily thoughts. We'll try again in 2022, and just hope that the situation will allow the ride to continue even if it's to be in a somewhat attenuated form.

I’m not looking for smooth cycle paths, gentle traffic and tail wind, because I can find that at home. When on holiday I prefer dirt roads, deserts and diarrhea. That’s what I hope to find again cycling with TdA.

Hello everybody, I am German, 45, living in Switzerland and rode with TdA before, loved it and now I am back for more. TdA (2011) really was a trip of a lifetime. Rode Bamboo as a sectional from Phnom Penh to Singapore in 2013 - different but enjoyed it anyhow. Always liked the idea of doing some additional miles in Africa. Due to time off from family and the holidays season I will only be able to ride to Sierra Leone ! Looking forward ! Dennis

I am 65, retired, and live in the Okanagan valley of B.C. Canada. Really only cycle to travel. Went on tda trips in Africa and India. Trekked from Srinigar to Ladakh in 1981 and loved the changes in culture and geography along the way. Sure nothing has changed in nearly 40 years !! It will be an adventure.

I'm retired and spend my time cycling and outdoors as much as possible. Generally I consider myself an outdoors person. I'm an avid hunter and fisherman. Around the house I garden and enjoy cooking. I've done several week long bike tours in Georgia, Tennessee, New York, Colorado, Virginia, and South Dakota. These rides run the spectrum as far as types of rides. Some more challenging than others, but all have their own character. I spent my career as an auditor; finding and fixing problems. It can be said that I like to crunch numbers. Now I'm seeking new adventures and new places. I haven't traveled that much outside the USA. So, the fun of riding, meeting new friends and seeing new places is why I'm joining the Morocco tour.

I've been drooling over TDA trips for years! Now I'm retired enough to finally join one and I'm super excited about Morocco. The longest cycle tour I've ever done was one week, but I look forward to getting into the rhythm of a longer trip. And my partner Spyros is coming, too!

“Experiencing the countryside and culture of West Africa was everything I’d hoped it would be, and the tour gave us the freedom to do so in our own way, while providing excellent support and logistics.”

“An incredible experience that I am still trying to describe. I look at the photos and I am in awe of what we have experienced.”

“In the fast-growing category of adventure cycling vacations, it’s safe to say that this one...was on the extreme end...The region has been more associated with civil war, disease and extremists than bucket-list challenges. But as political and economic stability has increased in recent years, so has the number of foreign tourists.”
