I am a veterinarian who loves adventure. I have always wanted to go on an extended bike ride and this tour seemed to fit the bill. I have ridden RAGBRAI and completed numerous long distance cycling events. I love to hike- trekking to the summit of Kilimanjaro and in Nepal. I love eco travel and have used my profession to enable me to work around the world. I have three adult children who encourage me to explore, travel and in the words of Captain Kirk of the USS Enterprise- "To boldly go where "I " have never been before". First TDA tour was the Pub Ride and it was fabulous. Now I am hooked on cycle touring!

I joined the Africa 2020 tour in Nairobi and three riding days later the Tour was over due to Coronavirus. In that short time I became addicted despite not being in a tent since my 20s. I also cycled the 23 TDA sections from Arusha to Lilongwe and in 2024 from Lilongwe to Windhoek I'm sort of retired with family commitments though occasionally I'm allowed out.. Hopefully see you all later next year

I am 61. I cycle a lot. I am born in Holland, and moved to the Caribbean island of Curacao 27 years ago. I am really looking forward to my next adventure. I did several bike tours in Europe and South America carrying my own stuff. This is my second time on an organized tour, I did the Trans Himalaya last year.

Have been a cyclist since '92 doing a variety of things including commuting to work, week long rides, after work group rides and more recently longer duration rides including one across the Arctic Circle in the Northwest Territories and the Yukon of Canada. I enjoyed the challenges and scenery of the Outback and the terrain of New Zealand on the 2016 Trans Oceania tour. Rode the Bamboo trail and enjoyed it immensely. Had an overall good time on the Hippie Trail. The food was great and the whole experience was incredible.

A traveler, a wanderer, a seeker of new vistas and experiences. Having retired from an international career, I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to live, travel, and cycle in in many fabulous off-the-beaten path locations across Africa and Asia. Reviewing my cycling ‘been’ map there is a huge blank spot across the whole continent of South America. Having throughly enjoyed the Bamboo Road and the Journey to the East with TDA, the SAE is perfect next challenge in my cycling life. I’m so looking forward to taking on this challenge, meeting new friends and making new memories with old friends. ¡Arriba! ¡Vamos! And now I'm signed up for next year's Road of Empires. That should be an excellent adventure also. Happy trails!

Greeting. I'm Canadian, born & raised in Toronto. Until recently, I led a private charitable foundation in the area of career development and employment for young Canadians from coast to coast to coast; we also have a particular focus on working with Indigenous Peoples in Canada. I have participated on Pub Ride and Journey to the East ... looking forward to cycling on the Elephant Highway!

I am a retired psychologist. I live in Yakima, Washington. In 2018 I road the Silk Road with TDA to Almaty, Kazakhstan where I was forced to abandon the tour due to an infection that required surgery. I was originally signed up for the Trans Caucuses ride this year but it was recently canceled. Got an opening for this African ride so took it. I’m an older rider but fit and have experience on longer tours. Looking forward to this experience.

I did my first long distance cycle trip about 40 years ago and fell in love with the notion of travel on two wheels. Since then I have done a number of cycle trips including a couple with TDA. I have been fortunate to share most of my cycling adventures with my wife Margy. I'm looking forward to seeing a bit of North Africa and to meeting a few more folks in the TDA community. Cheers...
