...slowly approaching full retirement. Avid cyclist, all types, road, gravel, cyclocross, MTB and winter fat biking. Skiing fulfils my off season outdoor pursuits. This will be my second TDA trip. Pub Ride '24 was great and met many new friends. ....Looking forward to the JTTE and meeting new cycling friends!

I love cycle touring and think it’s the absolute best type of travel. I have independently cycle toured about 20 times in Europe and 10 times in the US and have done randonnneur cycling for 25 years. I’m now shifting my riding to TDA type trips, having completed Cape to Kili two years ago and the Central Asia portion of the Silk Road last year, and, by the time the Shanghai-La trip begins, will have also done the Viva Italia trip. Looking forward to exploring a new region of the world on my bike and meeting all of you.

Touring on a bicycle is one of the nicest ways to enjoy myself outdoors. I can combine inhaling LOTS of fresh air, get HEAPS of exercise and ENJOY sight seeing, all at the same time. Even in the busiest, or quietest spots, simply pull over, put your foot down and breathe, take in your surroundings, and a take a few pictures too. As a TDA first-timer on Journey to the East: Seoul to Sapporo in 2025, the experience was fantastic, and exceeded expectations. I could not wait to sign up for more tours. The Odyssey and Viva Italia for 2026! See you there.

My first bike tour was in 1988; 6 months through much of Western Europe on a 1st generation hard tail mountain bike outfitted with 4 panniers. Fast forward through a life with a career, kids and a shed filled with bicycles, cycle touring still remains at the core of what I love to do. Now with grandkids and (mostly) retired, I figured it might be nice to have someone else carry my bags for a change. I am fortunate to live on the Unceded Traditional Territory of the K’omoks First Nation on beautiful Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. In addition to the love of cycling, the love for beer comes a close second making the Pub Tour a perfect pairing.

I live in Hamilton, Australia, a quiet rural town with lots of good biking, but not many hills! Travelling is an interest my partner and I share and combining it with cycling seems like a good way to do things.

I have done a few cycle tours through Myanmar, Uzbekistan and most recently Chile/Argentina Patagonia, however, non have been longer than 2 weeks nor with multiple long days in saddle. I am recently retired Rangeland Grazing Scientist with a love for travel. I am looking forward to the challenges and the social, cultural and historic aspects of the Far East tour whilst bringing up the rear.
