Catch Up!

Desert camp to desert camp. OK guys, we have to catch up. One hundred and sixty kilometres with a little tail wind, but still hard work except for the fastest riders. The pack spread out at the last, with Brit David Genders number one in 4hrs 23mins, Sascha second minutes behind and Steve in four minutes later.

It is the day after the first day of Eid, the Islamic holiday. We pass three wrecks. A truck that was carrying goats, with two dazed young men waiting for a friend to pick them up, and two buses that collided on an arrow straight road. One of the buses had been crowded inside and on the roof with Sudanese going home to their families. People died. We are close enough to the Sudanese now that we can imagine the tears of their children.
