Triumphal Entry to Khartoum
Desert camp to Khartoum and our triumphal entry. Paved road all the way, 85 kilometres, but a miserable headwind too. The average leisure rider on his or her own could do about 8 miles per hour during the worst of it. A pack of four (everyone was riding in packs because of the wind) came first in 3hrs 15mins: Sascha, Steve, Scottie Robinson and David Genders. Outside the city we grouped up for the parade, another 20km or so, with many stops for speeches and soft drinks from our hosts.
