I just had a brief conversation with Randy. The Tour has arrived in Debre Marcos after a long and tough day or as Randy put it; “I decided to test my ankle which I twisted several day ago. So I thought I will take the truck to lunch and bike from there. Big Mistake. The morning was mostly downhill but the afternoon was all climbing. All together 145 km. The good news – the road is newly paved. Tomorrow we have 60 km ride to lunch and then we hit the Blue Nile gorge – 20km (12.5 miles) bike ride down and the 20 km back up. Or 1,500 meters (5,000 feet) elevation drop down and then 1,500 meters up. We decided to take it easy – no race until the bottom of the gorge and then, time trial from the bottom. The other good news – the stones have subsided since we left Bahar dar.
