Ethiopia

Ok, so today we said goodbye to Sudan and crossed the border into Ethiopia….actually we can still see and hear (the call to prayer has just begun) the Sudanese side as we are staying just over the border but everyone has enjoyed an awesome shower(in the nearby brothel) and some reasonably cold beers this afternoon. Matema is a border town and so is bustling with small shops, people trying to sell everything and anything and a million money changers. Great atmospere though!

The ride today was hot, dry, dusty and the promised tailwind decided not to come out and play today so it was a bit of a slog along the road, although a few of the mountain bikers welcomed the short off road section just before the border crossing. The really great thing about this morning though, were the pancakes that Miles and the African Routes boys made for breaky this morning. Tonight is the first of our Thursday night quiz nights (albeit aided by beer and wine) and our Ethiopian riders have joined us today as well so the camp atmosphere is lively, noisy and the numbers are a little larger. Tomorrow……bring on those hills!!!
