Plenty of Camels, Goats, and Donkeys

Another beautiful sunny day here in Sudan, with a nice fast and mostly flat day in the saddle. The only thing slowing down ALL the riders… a break in the tarmac midway through the morning (bring on the dust, bumps and sand again!)… and a lot of the riders changed their tyres yesterday, taking off the “off roadies” and replacing them with the fast, skinny ones! That didn’t stop Chris Maund winning a stage today… he was looking strong and comfortable at lunch and continued all the way through to the finish narrowly beating Gunther and Eric. There were plenty of camels, goats and donkeys around to see on the way and most of the riders are using the afternoon to clean and prepare their bikes for tomorrows time trial and ride into Khartoum as well as enjoying cold pepsis and watermelon (mmmm, is this a holiday camp??). Bring on the rest day at the Blue Nile Sailing Club, laundry, showers and a sleep in!
