Along Came Mary

Brrrrrrr, bring out the ‘winter warmies’ as, for a brief moment overnight temperatures in the desert plummeted and had the riders scrambling for the hot drinks and their warm clothes. The good thing was that nobody was devoured by mosquitoes last night! The route was very straight-forward and the lure of the rest day gets the all riders going so there was a ‘no fuss’ attitude around camp. The mountains have left us for the time being and flat, green plains will surround us for a few more days before our border crossing into Uzbekistan. So, on a bright, sunny and warm day, greetings from Mary, Turkmenistan, where sore bums can be rested, city tours can begin, bikes can be fixed, stomach bugs eliminated and dusty riders can put their feet up, unclip their pedals and get somewhat clean and rested until the next part of the Golden Road section.
