TDA Race Update

Life on the 2008 Tour d Afrique returned to ‘normal’ today as riders bid farewell to Addis Ababa after two well deserved rest days.

“It was great to cycle out of town and back up into the beautiful challenging scenic Ethiopian countryside,” said Chris Wille, 2008 TDA racer. “The road race today was similar to the Canadian Ironman course in Pentiction, which features big climbs, fast downhills, and a series of rollers. It was a great day!”

According to the racers, tri-bars were an asset, allowing an aerodynamic position for long stretches. This kept speed high and cadence reasonable on the rollercoaster of a road. Throughout the day, one had to be vigilant to dodge people sheep, cows and busses—all on, near, or crossing the road.
