A Look Back, A Look Ahead: Insights From Our Annual Survey
“TDA is the most stunning initiative I’ve ever come across. You connect people to see and experience the world firsthand.”
Every year, we ask our community – newsletter readers, past riders and future dreamers – to tell us what they think. What excites them? What holds them back? What could make their experience with TDA even better? With over 500 newsletter subscribers and 155 past tour participants responding to our latest survey, we’ve gathered a clearer picture of what inspires you to ride and what’s on your cycling bucket list. Let’s break it down.

What We Learned From Our Newsletter Subscribers?
Well, it’s clear that our newsletter subscribers are planners, explorers and cycling enthusiasts at heart.
A solid 42% of them are 66+ years young, 39% are 56-65 and 12% are 46-55. North America still rules with 68% of subscribers, however it’s a delight to observe the growth of our European audience with top 5 countries like UK, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and Belgium. Currently, 31% of our readers are female and we are delighted to see this number grow. It was a delight to know that 60% of our subscribers plan to ride with us within the next two years, and we are looking forward to seeing newbies in our upcoming tours.
So, what’s stopping the undecided from signing up? The biggest barriers include:
- Cost and time constraints.
- Preference for self-supported tours.
- Work and family commitments.
- Concerns about fitness levels.
Here’s the good news! When we asked you what could help you to take the leap, you had ideas such as shorter tour options to accommodate busy schedules and more guidance on group dynamics to help first-time riders feel at ease on tour. We will work on those in the coming months.
What You Love About Our Content
An encouraging 88% of respondents find good value in our newsletters and we also promise to keep you inspired with our blogs. The most popular content was rider stories, new routes and trip accounts. Future content requests gave us some inspiration, and you will definitely see more of these:
- Female rider perspectives.
- Training tips for different terrains.
- Behind-the-scenes insights from our team.
- Personal stories from fellow riders.
Social Media Habits
Of our Newsletter subscribers, 33% follow TDA on social media: 63% on Facebook, 52% on Instagram and 25% on YouTube. It’s a high time you signed up for our social media if you haven’t already done so. Our followers would like more real stories, daily updates and authentic ride experiences. You want it – you got it!

What We Learned From Our Alumni Riders
Our past riders know what TDA is all about: epic rides, unmatched camaraderie and stories that last a lifetime. Just over half, 51%, are 66+, while 33% are 56-65. Almost a third, 32%, hail from Canada, 27% from Europe and 23% from the USA with smaller representation from Africa (5%), Asia (3%) and Oceania (10%). In terms of gender, 61% are male, and 39% are female riders.
TDA Experience & Future Plans
Over 70% have been on a TDA tour within the last three years, 44% plan to ride with us within the next year and 15% within two years. An overwhelming 83% of alumni say the destination is the top factor in choosing a tour.
Our Alumni love TDA for its logistics and support, making long-distance travel easier. The camaraderie of riding together is a highlight – many formed friendships that continue years later. Top picks in the Bucket List among Alumni: 1. Japan 2. Africa 3. South America. Most prefer 4–8-week tours. A growing number favour hotels over camping. Top upcoming destinations are Africa, South America, Asia and Scandinavia.
Social Media & Content
Of our alumni, 70% follow us on social media: 82% on Facebook, 55% on Instagram and 17% watch our videos on YouTube. Your top request? More daily updates, real challenges and behind-the-scenes moments. Many of you also want to hear directly from fellow riders and we’ll work on sharing more of your voices!
What’s Next?
The feedback from this survey is invaluable. We hear you! Whether it’s creating more accessible options, sharing even more real experiences or finding ways to support you in making that first step. One thing is clear: you’re passionate about cycling, adventure and discovery and we’re here to make sure you get the most out of every ride.
Thank you for your time, your thoughts and your love for two-wheeled adventures. Keep dreaming, keep riding and we’ll see you on the road soon!
