Journey To The East Rider Reviews: “Everything I Hoped For And More!”
The Journey to the East Cycling Tour is fast becoming one of our most popular adventures and the riders who cycled Korea and Japan earlier this year are eager to share the reasons why this route is so desirable.
The 2026 ride is currently sold out but we are accepting names for a waitlist. We have recently added a 2027 Journey to the East to our calendar as well as the previously scheduled 2028 departure.

“TDA’s Journey to the East was everything I hoped for and more. There were so many unexpected pleasures like the world class bike paths, hilltop apple shop and stunningly gorgeous Ice Canyon descent in South Korea, and the joy of exploring random roadside shrines, discovering the 88 Temple Pilgrimage on Shikoku, and cold plunging in the Sea of Japan in northern Japan. Best of all were the spicy rides and great group of fellow riders.” – Karen t’Kint de Roodenbeke (USA)

“For me, the tour struck the perfect balance—riding at my own pace without the pressure of finishing each day’s route by a set time. It gave me the freedom to enjoy the ride in my own headspace, knowing there was support if needed and then relax with the other riders over local cuisine at the end of each day.” – John Florin (Australia)

“The JTTE tour was a great way to experience South Korea and Japan: the culture, food, cities, people and physical environments. Our tour leader was exceptional, and the staff of 6 support people were wonderful.” – Stephen Growdon (USA)

“I really enjoyed the scenery and getting into the Korean and Japanese countryside. I loved the food. Thought the group meals were always served exceedingly fast and were often really nice too. Some of the Japanese meals were works of art.” – Patrick Wenning (USA)

“The tour was a wonderful way to experience the landscape, culture and people of South Korea and Japan. Travelling by bike you travel at your own pace, see, smell and hear things that you would not experience when cocooned in a motor vehicle. The meals were wonderful and gave an insight into both cultures. Hotels were conveniently located near sights and public transport. Fellow riders were a diverse group of interesting, inquisitive and friendly travellers. Staff were warm, welcoming, committed, approachable and professional.” – Richard Hughes (Australia)

“I thought our Nagasaki to Tokyo trip was epic and we just did one of three sections. The routes were spectacular; hard but beautiful. Even with participating in 18 of the 44 days of the full tour, I felt like I got a strong sense of Japanese geography, people and culture. All wonderful.” – Carolyn Harper (USA)

“A fantastic, but challenging, journey through fascinating lands and cultures! A window into a Korea and Japan that one cannot get to see on an ordinary tour, yet with enough time to visit all the top tourist destinations.” – Judith Gold (Canada)
