Report from Toronto Office

Well, as they say in the film business, Egypt is in the can. They have biked over 1,300 km in ten days and have reached Abu Simbel – the new city that has sprang around the amazing temple built by Ramses II (c 1279- 1213 BCE) with four colossal statues 965 feet/20 meters high) of Ramses at the entrance to the temple.

I have spoken to Michael on telephone and all is well, everyone is enjoying the trip, they are all healthy though the temperatures are much colder than the bikers expected. Of course we here in Toronto being in the middle of a blizzard are “very distressed” about this. In any case I think in a few days they will feel much warmer.

Today the 28th of January they had a day of rest, in which I am sure many have used to have a chat with Ramses himself. Tomorrow they will load their stuff on the barge, wave goodbye to Ramses and few hours later they will have the pleasure of going through customs on Wadi Halfa, Sudan. Of course it will also give them an opportunity to rest their muscles and especially their butts for another day – before the joy of riding the sandy roads.
