1. Hiking With The Mountain Gorillas

Seeing mountain gorillas in their natural habitat is an incredibly special experience. With just over 1000 gorillas left living in the wild, few people will ever be able to see these amazing creatures. However, many riders on the Tour d’Afrique 2024 were fortunate enough to have this singular experience when the tour brought them through Musanze, Rwanda.

Cycling from Saigon to Bangkok through Vietnam, Laos & Thailand featuring the historic trading port of Hoi An, the limestone caves of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, the wats and monks of Luang Prabang, the Chiang Mai night market and much, much more!

3. How To Cycle Across Africa

Cycling across Africa is easy, right? All you need is a bicycle and to get to the top or bottom so you can begin! Well, technically that’s true, however, it is super helpful to have a full TDA team around you. Chefs, bike mechanics, tour leaders, drivers, medics… the whole team is there to make your journey as simple as possible, so you really can just bike.

While no two counties are alike on the Tour d’Afrique, the transition from Egypt to Rwanda is especially intense. Due to this year’s altered route, the riders do not get to experience a slow transition to the lush green of East Africa. Instead, they are dropped right into it! A new and unfamiliar environment presents a completely different landscape, culture and climate that the riders have to adapt to on the fly.
