Rocks, Bumps, and Gravel

So, if you like riding in heat and on rocks then you would have loved the rocks, the bumps, the corregations, the pebbles, the gravel, the sand, the climbs and the heat that made up the day’s riding today. A reprieve from the heat for the wee hours of the morning provided the riders with a small amount of comfort and allowed them to make the most of the overcast conditions and get some kms under their belts. (believe me the going was slow for bikes and trucks today) When the sun came out it was hot and as the day continued the road deteriorated a little bit more with each km.

Gunther, on his suspension bike, blitzed the racing field by a couple of minutes today as many of the riders arrived at camp tired, dusty and sweaty. The only thing they are wishing for right now is a fridge stocked full of cold drinks because…it’s hot here in Kenya! Tomorrow, after a small climb we head into another well deserved rest day in the town of Marsibit that will enable everyone to have a break from the heat, clean up and basically just rest!
