Another Long Day

Another long day to back up yesterday’s long day…our day started at 5am with a bit of Carly Simon (thanks to African Routes) on the stereo, some refreshing gusts of wind and a damp camp. In the middle was a riding day of rolling hills…I mean, they really matched the perfect description of rolling hills as you crested a hill and looked in the distance, you could only see of road of ups and downs and ups and downs! Lunch at 70km and a refreshment stop at 110km provided tired riders with the legs to keep going but the ride itself was beautiful and scenic enough to motivate even the tiredest to keep their bikes on the road and keep moving. The Bridge River Camp is our little oasis of a campsite sitting on the banks of the Laungwa River (unfortunately infested with crocodiles so we can’t swim) equipped with a swimming pool and bar as well as hot showers. So, as the sun sets on yet another riding day, there are swims to have, beers to enjoy and a curry to eat (goes well with the hot temperatures of today) as well as an early night to be had. Thankfully, our riding distance tomorrow is a wee bit shorter than the last few days.
