Heading for the Falls

A blue sky and a cloudless day greeted us as the tour left Lusaka at 6.30am this morning on the next leg of the journey towards Livingstone and the famous Victoria Falls. A short convoy of 12km took the group out of the city. The real riding began on the outskirts. It was a fast and mostly flat day (a couple of sneaky climbs thrown in just before lunch to keep the riders honest) of 158km with a refreshment stop thrown in at the bustling and busy town of Masabuka. Not only was there plenty of water and food available but also cold drinks that got the riders through the last 20kms to camp. The amazing Jan E, our resident 64 year old Dutchman who has been racing since the start in Cairo, took the stage today from Remy and the tandem The girls were even closer and as we couldn’t tell them apart at the finish so the result was a draw. Welcome back to competition once again, Janet! We were able to enjoy some great scenery, some cold cokes, a flat ride and another wonderful day in Africa!
