Brrr!

I’m sorry, did you say tail winds in China? Never heard of them! But I have experienced cold, cold temperatures, winds to make your face so sore and red you want to cry, having to pedal downhill, blue skies and a winter sun without any warmth, views that would normally make you smile but your face is so cold you can’t move your mouth into that position! It was a delightfully lovely cold start to the morning that had the riders scrambling for the winter gear! Then a grunty climb towards the hills and a busy road full of trucks zipping by all day. No noodle stops because there wasn’t a village in sight for the first half of the day or the second half for that matter! However, the road was smooth again so we can’t complain too much! The ride into lunch to have a hot drink and warm rice pudding made it all worthwhile. After lunch, well, climbing was the theme of the afternoon with a gradual 20km uphill. Then the road changed direction and that annoying cross-wind become a tail-wind and before you knew it, the last 20kms to camp were a blissful, sweet, happy and zippy ride that got the smile back on most faces. Then the bonus, Henry bought the entire camp beer to have with dinner. A fire was made and before we knew it another day had set on bike heaven. Sweet dreams tonight!
